Ariara is an Afro-Funk, Afro-Rock Band. Featuring a group of Nigeria's Old Funk Veterans from the 70's.
Why this name?
Ariara is a huge Market in Aba, Eastern Nigeria, where the Afro-Funk Drum beat which formed the bedrock of 70's Afro-Funk was born. The drumbeat in question is a cross betwen the beat patterns in Spin Doctor's Two Prince's and Grandfunk Railroads Closer to Home (I'm your Captain)".
Do you play live?
In various venues in Lagos Nigeria. Memorable performances were as part of the De Captain's Series Concerts in Lagos- 1995-1999.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Brilliant, now everyone can get heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe.
Band History:
Formed in 95 as a loose Jam session of Nigerian Funk veterans. Have played since then in and around Lagos Nigeria.
Your influences?
Hendrix, Grand Funk Railroad, Sly Stone, Rare Earth, The Temptations and FELA KUTI no less.
Favorite spot?
Lagos, bro!
Equipment used:
We use Fender/Les Paul Guitars (Wah-Wah/Distortion/Delay), Hammond/Fender Rhodes Keys, Luwdwig Drums. Sorry!!but we're that kind of Band.
