Jedi Superstar is an Intergalactic Supergroup on a quest to bring real Rock played with passion and soul back to the universe. No egos, No BS Attitudes, No hip hop, No rap, Just straight ROCK! Listen to the tunes and get a smile on your face... Most of the songs you hear on here were done in one take with an extra track or two for overdubs, nothing fancy. The band wanted to try and capture the raw live feel - without fancy studio tricks and pro tools tinkering. Featured on this page is the first single that the band ever released "Goin' To California" but it is suggested that you pick three songs at least. They are all very different and creative and each song tells it's own story. This band is like going to the Drive In Theater on a Saturday night in the late 70's or early 80's with your favorite girl - only it's not dated at all - it has a retro feel yet stays fresh and new - the ultimate party band!
Why this name?
Being a huge fan of Star Wars, plus a Pop Culture junkie - I had no choice but to choose this band name - it is everything the band is about in two words!
Do you play live?
Jedi Superstar really comes alive in a live setting - it's always one rule - "Anything Goes" at a live show - you never know what may happen or where we may go musically speaking - and also - it's quite theatrical with props and effects and crazy things happening at any moment!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is a great tool for promoting your art - be it music or painting or movies - and it has given the people without corporate backing a way to play alongside the big boys and get their art exposed.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As long as the deal was fair and had benefits for the band and did not cage us artistically.
Band History:
The first version of Jedi Superstar - the seeds if you will - were formed in 1995 with the band Jedi Mindtrick - fun music that was raw and punk and full of emotion. It evolved from there and the first official version of Jedi Superstar was 1998.
Your influences?
We have so many various influences - Older stuff like Cheap Trick, The Beales, REO Speedwagon, Wings - all the way up to The Ramones, The Ataris, Butch Walker, Marvelous 3, Foo Fighters, Guster - good punk and straight rock...
Favorite spot?
Orlando, FL and Dallas, TX are my faves but I also love LA !!!!!!!!!!!
Anything else...?
We really want to bring fun back to American music - we want people to think of us as their favorite B-Movie - only as a band! We got real tired of people who whine and gripe in their songs - who moan and groan about how mad their multi-million dollar record deals are - how bad their lives are cuz they sell out arenas - Rock is about FUN people - it's about ROCK!
