The Pulltops were formed in December of 2001 from the ashes of Milwaukee band Udi Subudi. Drawing from their influences, The Pulltops take blues, rock, country, soul, and psychedelic pop and mix it into a sound all their own.
Why this name?
There are always small changes to pop culture as we move through the decades. Changes we forget about or take for granted. We wanted a name that would remind people of the 60's and 70's by referencing one of those small changes. The Pulltops refers to soda and beer from that era, with the now defunct pulltop cans.
Do you play live?
Our home is on the stage playing the music that we love. We play around the midwest, mostly in Milwaukee.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is great in the sense that we can make our music available to so many people all around the world. It's exposure we would have never acheived even ten years ago. The downside to new technology is that it makes it even harder for a musician to make a living at his or her craft. Exposure is great, but it doesn't pay the bills. Music sales decline dramatically every year. It will be interesting to see what happens next. Things have really turned around lately. The exciting thing is that a band can now achieve a direct relationship with it's fan base.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We would love to make music full time. A major label deal doesn't always guarantee that.
Your influences?
The Who, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Cheap Trick, CCR, Pop Hooks, Experimental Soundscapes, Dark Moods
Favorite spot?
On stage, In The Studio, Milwaukee
