illyricum (formerly oliver holiday aka onetime) and emit levart comprise magi. a positively charged "hypno" band, with a message to bring.
Why this name?
three wiseman. that whole thing. basically, our desire is to, ultimately, bring gifts to God, like they did.
Do you play live?
not presently. about 5-6 years ago under the title "sofa king dope", we caroused the dallas underground, djing and mcing with the likes or dj kind, john walker (turnaround), and adamant. alot of fun, but we all went different directions.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
man, infinitely. it has brought back the art of song writing. someone else said that, i forget who, but i agree. i think it can only have a positive impact. after time, artists will learn to cope, and use it to their advantage. i mean, if you are really an "artist", isnt the point that someone is hearing what you have to say?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
sure. as long as i have final say on what goes into my music.
Band History:
kind of went into that earlier, but dig a little deeper and you find that emit has djd for well known dallas hip-hop artist headcrack and the boondocks in the late 90s, opening for black moon, smith and wesson, and kieth murray.
Your influences?
self (matt mahaffey) / the beatles / the beastie boys / amon tobin
Favorite spot?
cape cod, mass. oliver is originally from boston. love the old town!
Equipment used:
mac G5 / korg triton / motu 2408 mk3 / motu usb midi fastlane / 19 inch mac studio display (kinda pointless, but it looks cool)
Anything else...?
our goal is to spread the truth about bibical principals, and how they apply to life.
