QuickTurn is Tim Hebel, Scott Erickson, Rob Shepherd and Lynn Hebel. Three of the members are pilots in the Air Force Reserves, the other, a housewife. Our music tends to lean toward the lighter side of life, often based on true and unusual stories. We’ve been told that we sound like a cross between A-Ha and They Might Be Giants.
Why this name?
QuickTurn is a short stop between consecutive aircraft sorties. There is a flurry of activity that occurs by a large group of people to get the aircraft back in the air on time. This "orchestrated" event seemed to be a natural target for the name of the band considering its members.
Do you play live?
Yes, we do play live, at local area bars - for now.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it is great for the independent musician to get their music out to the masses.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
probably not
Band History:
Tim is QuickTurn’s bass player and lead singer. He’s a pilot in the Air Force. In his spare time, he's a software programmer. Tim's the one who mixes and records everything you hear. Lynn is his wife. She has a degree in music performance - organ. In her spare time she likes to play games and search the internet for new music/bands. Scott is also a pilot – he’s in the AF Reserves. Scott’s been called” The Chameleon” due to his vast knowledge of musicians and their music. He can play anything at a moment’s notice. Rob Shepherd is our drummer extraordinaire. Try to find him behind his curtain of cymbals. Rob is a pilot for Southwest Airlines and an AF Reserve pilot as well.
Our main focus as a band is to play out and get heard. Although scheduling is quite difficult at times, we do manage to play out around town and at parties. QuickTurn's music is approachable and fun to listen to. We call it "flock pop."
