Where it all started…

Connecticut native, Greg Schuler played in front of his first audience only a few months after he began learning to play the piano. “My voice was my first instrument. I didn't want to rely on other people to accompany me when I was singing. A friend of mine started playing guitar, so I decided to teach myself piano so we could put a band together.” At the age of 12, Schuler learned to play on a portable Casio keyboard, and was highly interested in programming and recording music.

Greg goes international…

After studying music and recording at Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts, Schuler relocated to Sydney, Australia where he studied at the prestigious Sydney Conservatorium of Music. There, he worked toward a degree in music education, studying classical theory and was vocally trained in opera. “The classical thing was fun. We were expected to perform twice a semester dressed in a suit and tie. Each time we performed, we had to perform two pieces. Before I was finished at the Conservatorium, I had talked the vocal chairwoman into letting me perform one classical piece and one popular song during these concerts. The person before me played a beautiful violin piece accompanied by a pianist, then I would come out with a drummer, bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, two backing vocalists and a horn section! The older students didn't know what to make of me.” Greg was also chosen to sing with the Sydney Conservatorium Chorale, a select group of vocalists given opportunities to record at the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Company) studios and perform with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in the world famous Sydney Opera House.

Home sweet home…

After almost three years living down under, Schuler returned to the United States to study music synthesis, music production and engineering at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 2000, Greg started Schuler Productions, a recording studio located in Framingham, Massachusetts. When Greg isn't working on other people's music he works on his own music. In January 2005 Schuler will be releasing his debut album entitled “Said And Done”. The remainder of the year will be devoted to live shows supporting the CD and continuing to operate his recording studio.
Why this name?
I didn't. My Parents did! I guess it just grew on me.
Do you play live?
I will start playing out again to promote "Said And Done". I'll start in Boston and Massachusetts and work my way to the rest of the world all in good time!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Without the internet, there is a very good chance you would have never heard of Greg Schuler! It would totaly be up to the record companies.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'm not apposed to signing with a major label if they are interested in artist development. I wouldn't sign anything without a VERY GOOD entertainment attorney by my side!
