That chopped up dirty Roc City funk. I'm an ol skool head so u could hear it in my music...I make all my own beats, do all the scratches, do all the rhymin, and when I'm done wit that I engineer it...basically a one man show. I try to keep my topics more relevant than those u usually hear, cause that's how u keep it 'fresh!
Why this name?
SMD, it means many things, I'm a man of many flavors u know? Strong Mind Defined being first and foremost, more as like strong in wisdom than, stubborn. Smart Man's Dream when I really drop some knowledge, Screamin Mic Demon when I'm pissed it's Straight Mic Destruction, hatin muthafers, could perform fellatio..and it keeps goin.
Do you play live?
I did 2 shows while I was at an Audio school in Orlando, I love doin live shows and look forward to doin many more.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it's important for artists like me and others on this site, cause it's a great way to get heard. I also think it's needed for the major label stuff now too, cause if your gonna buy a CD for 15-17 dollars you should be able to check if you like the product, because artists nowadays are inconsistant and thiers very few that warrant an automatic buy.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would be skeptical but if I felt it was gonna allow me to make music the way I wanna make music than of course. Cause thats the way you really get your message out to the masses.
Your influences?
Wu Tang, Boot Camp, MF DOOM, Madlib, Nas, Krs-One, GANGSTARR, AZ, De La Soul, Tribe called Quest, Atmosphere, Murs, Aesop Rock, early Eminem, etc. just that real hip hop!
Favorite spot?
My Hometown Roc City.
Equipment used:
Pro Tools, Reason, M-Audio 61-ES, Turntable, and maaaaaaaaaaadddd Records!
Anything else...?
If your lookin for beats...look no further! I got like 60 for sale right now contact me for prices, n I'll send you a quality copy, and if your workin wit pro tools, send me the session, I'll mix it down to perfection, I am an engineer also...HOLLA!
