"From Chicago, IL and no longer known as Elezdee, Resolent is a creative and an interesting mixture of alternative, rock, and metal. Singing about love, anger, life, and problems, lead singers Peter Cho and Frank Kovacs sings truth about their past and their life now, and how they see the world in their own eyes. Each member has their own influences, but to name a few: Dredg, Nirvana, Korn, Deftones, Tool, Meshuggah, and Chevelle. Still the band carries a style of it's own. From comfortable to eerie and heavy guitars, to funky bass riffs to heavy slapping, from lovely yet emotional melodies to a mental breakdown, from whatever it is, the band achieves it." -www.resolentband.com
Why this name?
Peter: Frank came up with the name Resolent. Frank and I were at 6flags one day in Gurnee, IL and we wanted to change our name (previous name was Elezdee). So we did, if you want to get specific on how we got Resolent, just talk to us in person.
Do you play live?
Peter: Where ever we can.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Peter: It changed it a lot, I mean A LOT in the past 3-4 years! I think mp3's open the door for many underground bands, but it can also hurt some bands.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Peter: Depends on what they can offer.
Band History:
Peter: Well we used to be Elezdee. There's been quite a lot of line up changes. First it was: Me, Frank, Dan, and Josh. Then Josh left and our buddy Sam joined (This was back in 1999). Then Dan left and Marcin filled in for him. Later on Sam left and then we had Mike, well actually it was more of a thought, and then Jacob came in, Marcin left, and then Bram came in, Wallah!
Your influences?
Peter: I cant speak for the band, but for me its always been Kurt Cobain, Jon Davis, Trent Reznor. Now things have changed, I enjoy bands like dredg and Sigur Ros, but I still love Nirvana, Korn, Deftones, Pearl Jam, etc.
Favorite spot?
Peter: Chicago, although it can be hectic, you gotta love Chicago. And my favorite vacation or chill/relax spot is in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, like Three Lakes/Eagle River. Love it up there. If I have some money I'd love to go back to the Bahama's.
Equipment used:
Peter: Well we're neither techno nor an electronica band, but I use an Ibanez RG-570 with DR strings (9 set), Boss pedals (Phaser, Metal Zone, Distortion), Shure mic's (Sm 58 and beta), and a Line-6 amp (Spider II, half stack 300watts). Oh and Dunlop picks!
