Blueside play classic / alternative rock passed through a contemporary filter and cutting across a range of styles. Our sound marries elegant chord structures and cool melodies, framed with sharp, angular guitar work that provides a strong dynamic contrast. If you like your rock music delivered with a certain degree of style then please check out Blueside. New album due late 2008...last few vocal takes and cover design underway....
Why this name?
Blueside - because that's the side of Manchester I'm from - a useful reference point I reckon.
Do you play live?
I play regularly at Open Mic events in Preston, where its always a buzz to present original material, and its a great driver for completing a song. Its nice too when you get good feedback for a particular song.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet can only do so much, what artists really need more than anything is exposure (especially radio airplay) and for the general public to start seeking out artists who are writing material in the genres that they already like. MP3 download charts are the future, particularly as CD singles became way overpriced. mp3 solves the issue of distribution of material for artists who cannot get a record deal and that's a major plus point.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course, and I'm happy to just be a writer if necessary. In the meantime 'soundclick' at least means my stuff is out there in the ether and available for people to listen to.
Band History:
I prefer to co-write where possible and am presently working with Richard Hoddinott(keyboards)and Simon Davis (guitar) to create the best sound we can get.
Your influences?
Influenced by both progressive rock and indie music and seeking to meld the two together. Pink Floyd. Genesis. New Order. The Sundays
Favorite spot?
Manchester City Football Club have been a major influence on my writing!
Equipment used:
Mostly Yamaha
