We bring you songs of regret, redemption and hope...

...submerge yourself in the blissed out echoes and give in to our relentless anthems.
Why this name?
Emil Zatopek was a Czech distance runner who won three gold medals at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, but was subsequently persecuted by the Communist regime.
Do you play live?
Yes! Our third gig was last night (6 Oct) and we have three more coming up over the next few weeks. To find out more, visit:

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Provides access for 1000s of musicians to get recognition. If the Madonnas and the Metallicas of this world miss out on some of their market share, then boo-f***ing-hoo.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. Mugs.
Band History:
Four guys, brought together by simple circumstances in June 2005.

Intensive songwriting & rehearsing during the rest of the summer.

We are now gigging and are booked in the studio mid-November... we should have an EP done before Christmas.
Your influences?
Zatopek want to put the grace back into music and their touchstones include anything dynamic & powerful, yet atmospheric... Doves, Elbow, Everclear, REM, Embrace, Jimmy Eat World, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Durutti Column, Nirvana, Ride, The Jam, Deftones, DJ Tiesto...

...still with us? You're our kind of music fan.
Favorite spot?
The North Pole
Equipment used:
Aspi (vocals / trouble): Lungs, etc

Guy (guitar / conspiracy theories):Fender Stratocaster Plus > Boss FX > Vox AC30 amp

Mike (bass / sarcasm): Ibanez bass > ProCo RAT > Ashdown EB amp
Anything else...?
To anyone who watches / appears on / votes for "Pop Idol"... your days are numbered, you f***ers.
