play lo-fi play hi-fi  new life by astrono
This is ASTRONO a.k.a. Buckcee Ciegal. I am deeply interested in many genres of music, but I am especially connected to jazz, classic, and hiphop. I had lived in Empire state for 7 years, spent 3 years in Indiana for my college education and currently residing in Buckeye state.
There are many great artists out there and I want to be a part of that movement, I am far from the best but I am gonna strive to become best no matter what it takes.
Why this name?
Astronaut travels universe to find the truth.
I seek the truth and I named my name after the astronaut, and I hope my music to become universal.
Do you play live?
I play drum, piano, harmonica, and percussions.
I played piano about 9 years, fragmented 6 years for drum, 3 years of harmonica when I was little.
I love playing piano, especially standard jazz such. It allows me to explore the creative potential that reside in my inner circle. And playing any instruments, piano in particular, gives me an emotional enlightment.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I am a fan of MP3, it is compact and very unique in many ways. It can be transferred from one user to another without a hassle which helps band, songwriter, composer, or singer to promote themselves much easier with cheaper cost. It is productive way to endorse oneself and his/her creative contents. Undoubtedly, internet and mp3 brought us a great impact and changed our way of thinking, no i would say way of life. And it's helping us to know what's real and what's not, if we are fed up with fake contents by somebody, then we become very limited. Internet became our traffic and mp3 became the traffic light. We see many green lights but we also see red lights. Many of red lights exist in mainstream and many green lights exist in underground, vice versa. We listen what we like, we don't need to listen what "they" want you to listen. So in conclusion, no, internet maybe changed our behavior of listening a music but did not changed the nature of music industry, except for business practices. The people who seek the true music is gonna listen the real thing regardless of a medium.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I prefer to remain in underground and want to collaborate with people who share the similar goal, objectives, and vision. If major label allows an artist to explore their creativity to the fullest I will be very glad to do so. But if it was for a material objective, I will kindly reject the offer.
Band History:
There's nothing great about me at this point.
I am growing and maturing day by day.
There's no such thing as a perfect apex, only thing I can tell you is that I will be evolving in every given moment.
Your influences?
There are many musical influences behind me.
My father has been a radio dj (in Korea) for over 25 years. He let us (me and my brother) listen all the goody oldies since when I was very little. My mother was a fan of classic music, so I got chance to listen many classic pieces, although I didn't like them when I was just a young kid. My brother was fanatic of Queen, he still has tape collection of Queen, every single album, and I got a chance to listen modern rock music. That's my musical influence from the family. Yet, the music I really loved to hear in daily basis was jazz.
Artist I love?
There are so many but to name a few, here goes a list - Liszt, Brahms, Tchaykovski, Miles Davis, Carmen Mcrae, Johnny Hammond Smith, John Coltrane, Native Tongues, 2pac, Madlib, Preemo, 9th wonder, etc.

And of course I cannot forget my mentor, Russ Castillo from Indiana University. He was one of the best persons/professors I have ever met. He engineered artists such as Ray Charles, The Doors, Pink Floyd, and Herbie Hancock.
Favorite spot?
New York, Seoul, Montreal, Toronto, Naptown, Columbus and list goes on. But I want to visit cities across the globe, so if you are reading this message from other side of the world, holla at me, I'll be there.
Anything else...?
I hope my music translates well into your soul.
