Ruby Water is a local band originated and cultivated in Santa Fe, New Mexico, comprised of singer(s)/songwriter(s) Jonathan Salazar and Jonathan Tercero.

Their musical styling is a mixture of genres which span from Brit Pop, to Rock & Roll, to Acoustic R&B. A hint of Country and Gospel can also be found in the roots of their music due to their childhood and different backgrounds.
Why this name?
We got the name from the bible story of Jesus turning water to wine "ruby water", with the belief that He turned it to red wine and not white or blush...
Do you play live?
We play more shows than I can count. We have only been a band for a little more than three years and we have played over 300 shows.

We play in and around Santa Fe, New Mexico.

We absolutely love playing our music for people. The best feeling is when Im up there doing one of my originals and I look in the the crowd and see someone singing along with me.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has definitely changed the industry for good as much as bad. All we hear is big shot millionares complaining about royalties that they are not recieving because people are downloading their music instead of buying it. The truth is if someone like the music enough, they will by the album. It is good for the industry because it allows small time bands like Ruby Water to put our music out world wide without the costs.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would definitely sign a record deal, however, im very skeptical about the entire thing. If it were possible to reach a mass amount of people with my music indepedently, than I would rather do that.
Band History:
Ruby Water performs for an ever growing fan-base in their hometown of Santa Fe, New Mexico. In a year and half, this Acoustic Rock-Pop duo has developed an unmistakable sound that is refreshingly unique. Their creative and capturing songwriting skills have helped harvest a strong and consistent following. They have already shared the stage with a variety of big names in the local music scene such as Lumbre del Sol, Newton’s Theorem out of Arizona, Sol Fire, and The James Douglas Show. Ruby Water features Jonathan Tercero and Jonathan Salazar, who share the stage with impressive vocals, guitar, and percussion. The influence of musical families, not to mention their charismatic personalities, have given these upstart singer/songwriters an edge when it comes to stage presence and crowd interaction. With a repertoire that includes covers from the likes of Damien Rice, Oasis, Janes Addiction, and many others, as well as a slew of catchy originals, Ruby Water is quickly making their presence felt in the local music scene.
Your influences?
Oasis, Boyz II Men, Garth Brooks, Damien Rice, Ray Charles, John Mayer, Maroon 5.

We have a combination of styles. We play a lot of slow, sad ballad types of songs. We also love to rock the shows with some Oasis and catchy originals.
Favorite spot?
Well that is a hard one to pick. We have not, as of yet, played outside of New Mexico, but personally I love the city of Memphis. We will play there one day.
Equipment used:
Definately not TECHNO!! But we play Taylor acoustic (steel string and nylon) guitars. Fender American-Stratocaster, LP Congas, Shure Beta Mics, Mackie Speakers, Mackie Powered Mixer, and Fender Deville Guitar Amp.
Anything else...?
Jonathan Tercero
The Singer - Jonathan Tercero was born and raised in a musical family, however he did not actually pursue music until about 18 months ago. His rapid development in guitar and percussion is accredited to hard work as well as tutoring from Amado Abeyta and Jonathan Salazar. He encountered lots of negative feedback when he decided to be in a band from some of his family and friends. This lack of support has only fueled his desire to work harder. His drive to succeed as a musician is surpassed solely by his love for music itself.

Jonathan Salazar
The Songwriter - A talented writer to begin with, Jonathan Salazar has taken up the responsibility of writing most of Ruby Water's originals and has done very well in just the 2 1/2 years he has been a songwriter.
