Jazzfunk/Fusion quintet playing originals ranging from smooth ballads to hard-driving funkgrooves.
Why this name?
We agreed on "subfive" because it was short and easy to remember, and it relates to our music (subfive is a term used in jazz theory).
Do you play live?
We play mostly in jazzclubs and live venues in and around Stockholm, and occasionally in other parts of Sweden and Europe and Japan.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Every artist will be able to reach out to an audience on equal terms.
Major record companies will decline.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on the conditions, but probably not
(since they will rip you off in most cases).
Band History:
subfive was formed in the spring of 1999 and has since toured extensively throughout Scandinavia and central Europe. Currently subfive is recording their 2nd album, scheduled for release in the fall of 2008. Tours of Germany, Austria and Japan are also scheduled this year.
