Did you know that Carter is the 42nd most popular last name in the U.S.? Or that Robert is the 3rd most popular 1st name?!?!?!?!? Well I asure you that if you are looking for a guy that loves Jesus, writes music to worship and glorify the Father Son and Holy Spirit AND writes...4th and 5th grade band music...? I'M your man!!! These days I have mostly been doing occassional solo gigs as I court the lovely and talented Mindy Schott (my girlfriend of 6 months.) I do orriginal contemporary worship and pop rock orriginals from a Christian perspective. There's just enough humor, sincerity, and vulnerability to keep the audience attentive as I share my Christian experience in an attempt to meet people where they are and bring them closer to God. With the band, we do a lot of "secular" rock covers with a Christ centered focus. That way, people are bound to hear the songs again and have the seed watered.
Band/artist history
Rob has been writing music since 1985, Christian music since 1988, and gigging in the Northeast since 1994. He plays guitar and keyboards (rarely simutaneously) and sings original songs in various styles. The band has taken many forms over the years. For the duration of their marriage Rob played with his wife Christine on violin and vocals. The most recognizable form was the ensemble that played almost every weekend as "Rob Carter and the Blueprints" which featured Rob and Christine as well as renowned fingerstyle guitarist Robert Messore (www.robertmessore.com). The pick-up rock bands I assemble tend to play radio rock with a Christian focus. "I think there is an artificial dichotemy in the American Church between the sacred and the secular. God needs to be part of our everyday lives. Taking 'secular' songs and movies and giving scriptural context for them is more lasting to the general public as they will surely hear/see the media again and will be reminded of what the Lord has for them."
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, I do play pretty regularly. Mything to do every year is to get a band together to play at Camp Hope on Bantam Lake in Litchfield/Bantam, CT. Getting to know the teens for a few days and then rocking out for them is the closest we get to being "Rock Stars." The worship with a full band is incredible as well.
