Hi, my name is Kathy and I'd like to welcome you to my Soundclick Page.

It seems that music has always been an integral part of my life. One of my brothers was a drummer who played in several rock and roll bands while I was growing up, so I got an early start with my music education. This experience gave me a personal desire to play the guitar and write songs.

Today I work out of my home as a private guitar teacher and webmaster of
ABC Learn Guitar where I offer free guitar lessons and tips for songwriters and indie-musicians.
Why this name?
My husband and I both play guitar and write songs, but we haven't given ourselves a "band name" yet. The name of my last band was "MISSION" because we were on a mission to share the gospel through our music.
Do you play live?
I have done quite a bit of performing over the years in coffee-houses, fairs, open-mics, restaurants, concerts, churches, weddings, funerals, nursing homes, college campuses, and special events. I was invited to play for a radio program in 2006 and I've even been on T.V. a couple of times!

Playing to a live audience offers a great opportunity to share the gospel through music. My heart is more into "music ministry" than "performing." I have a desire to reach out to people who are searching for truth and meaning in their lives. The world today can be a very dark place, so I want to offer people hope by telling them that Jesus is alive! He is "a very present help in trouble." It give me a sense of fulfillment when someone is impacted by a song I've written.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It provides more opportunity for unsigned artists to get their music heard. It's also a good way to measure how a song holds up against the "competition" :0)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would definitely be interested, but whether I would sign depends on the specific details of the contract.
Band History:
Kathy grew up with a love for music and began playing the guitar when she was 15 years old. Though a self-taught guitarist, she has pursued different types of ongoing music education along the way. Some of this education included, but was not limited to, performing. In 1987 she was asked to join a Christian band called "Wings of The Morning" whose focus was on sharing the gospel through music. She and another band member wrote all the original songs which they performed at fairs, concerts, churches, restaraunts, schools and special events.

Several years later, Kathy and a friend formed a duo called "Mission". Again, both wrote their own original Christian songs which they performed at various public forums. In 1994 "Mission" was given the opportunity to record their music, which they did. The tape was used as an evangalistic tool and was distributed throughout their local area and beyond.

As a member of the Western Montana Classical Guitar Society for approximately five years, Kathy had the opportunity of performing solo and ensemble pieces for classical guitar. She also wrote and performed some of her own instrumental guitar compositions during this time. One of her special memories was being able to participate in Christopher Parkening's 25th Anniversary Master Class and meet him personally. The highlight of this event was being able to hear this renowned classical guitarist perform in concert!

At present Kathy is primarily focused on teaching, which is now expanding to the internet through ABC Learn Guitar. She has been providing guitar lessons to students of various ages and interests since 1983.
