Why this name?
We just like the sound and the meaning.
Do you play live?
We take any opportunity we can to play live because that is what it is all about. Of course we love to play live, I don’t think there is a band who doesn’t. At least there shouldn’t be. It is the thing that keeps us together. Working on songs or recording together usually just gets everyone pissed off at each other real fast but then the adrenaline rush from on stage makes it all worth it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet affects bands the way the band sets it up. I feel the internet is a part of the music scene so it might as well be used to get your music out to people.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I think so. As long as we are in control of the major creative decisions. Our main thing is just to get our music out to as many people as possible.
Band History:
The band originally started out, in 2001, as a four piece with the intention of playing metal oriented music with the main influence being Metallica but soon lost their lead guitarist. After that, the rest of the band kept going but strayed away from metal and started to go a punk oriented direction, mainly playing covers including Blink 182 and Green Day. This is when the band started writing its own music and actually playing shows, but back then, known as Kobalt Blue. During 2002, the band started to fall apart once again due to the drummer leaving. This only left the last two members who spent their time looking for replacements while writing music and inventing their sound until finally two new members joined in December of 2003. Continuing on as Kobalt Blue, the band started to write more songs and then finally recorded their first demo in Aril of 2004 and meanwhile playing every show they could. Then, in December of 2004, the band realized how much they had grown since being 14 year old metal heads and decided it was time for a new name … Epiphany.
Your influences?
Although some of these bands styles are not apparent in our music, all of the following and many more have influenced us in some way or another. Metallica, System Of A Down, Nirvana, Blink 182, Blind Guardian, Rise Against, NOFX, Matchbook Romance, Three Days Grace, Finch, Bad Religion, Wizo, The Offspring, Rammstein, Bose Onklez …
Favorite spot?
Anywhere, as long as we can get the crowd is into it, that’s enough to get us pumped and then we don’t care where we are.
