Hejira is a four-piece Vancouver indie/experimental art rock band. Diverse instrumentation and slightly lo-fi sounds combine with atmospheric textures and well-crafted melodies.
Why this name?
We liked how it meant departure. We are not a Joni Mitchell tribute band.
Do you play live?
Hejira plays live around town and in the North West.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
More bands and more music=oversaturation of the industry and lack of quality bands
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
What do you mean still?
Band History:
Hejira formed of mutual friends in the year 2002. Matt came along slightly later. How to Land, EP was released in 2003, and a new album is expected in 2005.
Your influences?
Hmmmm. It pretty much changes on the band member. We could probably all agree on Mogwai, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Yo La Tengo, and Mum.
Equipment used:
some analog keyboards, lots of effects, samplers
Anything else...?
We have side projects too!
