The Sandspurs are a Southern roots rock and blues band, featuring original songs and covers of songs we damn well wanna play. We have been known to throw in a white-knuckle country number now and then, and our blend of original music and cover material flows seamlessly. No mystery to it: We have the juke joint equity to do what we do and play the music we wanna play.
Why this name?
We wanted a name that reflected our rootsy, earthy and Southern approach to our music. Our band name describes us well.
Do you play live?
We love playin' live...we've gigged at sorts of clubs, high-dollar establishments, roadhouses, patio parties, and a few cinder-block juke joints. Sometimes our judgement may be called into question.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
This is the medium for cutting-edge and fringe music. The industry serves the stock holders; we make the music we want.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
This ain't in the realm of possibility. Strictly independent.
Band History:
We've been playing in the area for the past decade. All of us have been in other bands, and we have a varied background, from bluegrass and hard country to Kiss cover bands and 80's classic rock. We bring a lot to this group.
Your influences?
All members share a background in southern rock and blues.
