Hey guys. We are Unchained, a rock band based out of Nanaimo British Columbia.
Why this name?
We're unchained from society! hahaha, just kidding...in truth we felt it displayed our style and demeanor in one word.
Do you play live?
Of course we f***in play live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I love it. It offers artists the ability to gain exposure, confidence, and what may be most valuable, criticism that may not be offered outside their normally limited audience
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
How much?
Band History:
Last June we (Max and Bryon) got together one day to have a little fun and work on a song, "stupid f***ing sluts." Things wern't going too smoothly, so we decided that we would try working on something more level headed. This is where the song "Forgot How to Breathe" was written. It may not have been a masterpiece, it may not make it onto our first album. But it did inspire us to form our band which after 2 months time would be called Unchained. Through the summer months we spent our time focusing on auditioning musicians to play drums and guitar...this turned out to be a little tougher than we imagined. A few times we avoided certain disaster and doom in our search for a guitarist, like the conforming guitarist who always seemed to be ready with some cliched term to raise his standing for the spot...naturally he was turned away, leaving numerous inside jokes against his favor. Around late july the drumming position was offered to Aaron Jourdain, who was definitely a musical match for us (and being related to the singer only made this far more convenient). So the current lineup of Unchained was formed, with Bryon Jourdain singing and handling guitar, Aaron Jourdain pounding away at the drums, and Max Bjork playing the Bass guitar.
Its now January 2005, we've been going strongly for abotu 4 or 5 months now, working mostly on increasing our repertoire and quality of our performance...lying low so to speak to make sure we come out as a force into the dismal music scene of Nanaimo.
In late March of 2005, we managed to pick up this totally rad guitarist, Chuck Schiller. Alot of his influences vary, he plays just about everything from jazz to acid metal to progressive rock. His influence and skill has turned our band from a mediocre grunge band that lacked skill and direction (as you will find our rough acoustic versions, although good and showing our roots are not to the standard we expect to perform) into the powerhouse rock band with a strong musical prowess that we try to be. He has shown us the light so to speak :P
In the next week or two we hope to have our recorded works (yes full band as alot of you have been hoping for) from our local studio online and ready for your listening
Well, i could keep going here, filling you with bits of trivia and anecdotes, alas i must save some for the book :P. Thanks for showing the interest to read this far, and with a little luck and and work, we'll hopefully be playing somewhere near you :)
Sincerely
Bryon Jourdain
Max Bjork
Aaron Jourdain
