Christopher James is a songwriter from Philadelphia PA. His love for all genres of music has helped him shape many songs into masterpieces for others to use. From the good old days of bands handing him their demos for composing, aranging, and mixing, to currently re-creating the sounds and song structures of old and new pieces, he is definitely at his best. Collaborating with young and older musicians and songwriters from around the world, only good things can come from this very creative and up and coming songwriter.
Why this name?
That's my name, don't wear it out!
Do you play live?
No playing live. We let our artists do that for us.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has changed the way music is distributed to the masses tenfold. 10 years when I was creating music and submitting it to publishers, you had to wait for the good ol USPS for all correspondance. These days, you can just create MP3's and stick em up on the net. Gotta love technology. And how about Taxi.com. What a great idea!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes of course. But not at the drop of a hat though. Thanks again to the Internet, I could distribute my songs and shop them myself, but the marketing value of being signed is what I would look for.
Band History:
I started writing and recording music around 1995 with a Kawai K1 II and an Alesis MMT-8 sequencer. Was just learning sound development (you can hear my home grown guitar sound on "This Boy's Mountain" and "The Wizard") and was collaborating with a songwriting whom now resides in FL. We both pretty much got drunk every night, and came up with some really funny and dark tunes. You can hear them at http://christopherjames.net
Your influences?
I have always respected Brian Eno and Hans Zimmer as well as Pink floyd. I have a deep down love for "soundtrack" music. I have always felt that music is the soundtrack to life!
Anything else...?
Some recent reviews of my old music which was reviewed on Garageband.com
It's Raining and the lightning looks good on my lover...
Instantly dark and sexy. Me likes the taste of it. The sound is something I can sink my teeth into but every now and then you guys are lost in this reverb/ phaser/ flanger effect toilet. I can't say who you sound like but why didn't I hear you on the Underworld soundtrack? Or maybe if they make an Aeon Flux feature length... I didn't really hear a hook but goddamned if I'm not going to have sex to this song. Thank you.
