Frank Bakken was born in Trondheim, Norway in 1970. He started his musical career early. Frank has played in several groups. He has played guitar, bass, and piano, but he prefer to sing. Through the years he has relased 10 cd´s and done a lot of gigs, mainly in Skandinavia. Frank is a well known singer/ songwriter in Skandinavia. He has written more than 600 songs and worked with a lot of great artists.
Why this name?
It´s my given name.
Do you play live?
I do not play as much now as I used to, but I love to play live and I have toured a lot with several bands. Special moments..hm..well I played on the roof of a ship once...it was in a danish harbour (Skagen) and there was about 2000 people in the audience it was just a great feeling to play outdoors...with the wind in my hair :-)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It´s a fantastic tool, in the 80-thies early 90 ties we had to work our ass off to get seen, so its much easier today. At that time we used to send demos and letters to magazines...it was much moore work doing promotions. Today with the internet you save much time and money, but you still have to take your time to promote your self.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes that would bee nice, I have got some offers but have not signed anything yet.
Your influences?
My first big idol was Elvis Presley and I am still a big fan of him, but I have many influences. I like 80 thies rock and pop...bands such as A-ha, alphaville, Europe, Def leppard...its just to many to mention.
Favorite spot?
I just love Stockholm...and theres a lot of nice places in this city.
Equipment used:
When I do my songwriting I use a Roland D-50, Cubase SX and a Les Paul..
