I am pleased to announce that my debut EP - Spark will be launched on Sunday February 20th 2005 at The Marquee Suite, The Cock Hotel, Milton Keynes.
Tickets go on sale at the end of the week.
See Tour section for details..... See you there!

Making Spark was a really enjoyable experience so thanks to everyone that got involved.

When I'm recording music I like to keep the production down to a minimum so that what you hear on the Cd is the same acoustic experience you get if you come to see me at a gig, so I hope you like the outcome xx
The songs have a folk/pop feel to them and reviewers have made comparisons to Sarah Mclachlan and Fiona Apple although they have an individual sound to them. For more infomation go to www.martynamusic.com
Why this name?
My surname isn't too glamourous so it just became Martyna.
Do you play live?
I play live whenever I can. I play at the Wolverton Acoustic Club and also acoustic nights all over the country. Im hoping the most special gig will be my CD launch on February 12th as it will mark the end of months of work and the start of my local tour. Details are on the tour page!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's great that people can now release music without censorship from the major labels. It's a huge help to independent artists and means anyone can be heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Never say never but it would need to be a contract that acknowledged my songwriting and didn't turn me into an industry puppet. I admire people like Ani Difranco who had the balls to go it alone!
Your influences?
I think you can hear all kinds of influences in my music from the old albums of Everything But the Girl to Aimee Mann and Sarah Mclachlan. When I was 15 an art teacher at school heard my songs and handed me a tape of Joan Armatrading which I wore out in weeks. From there I built a collection up of female singer-songwriters like Tracy Chapman so I guess my music rests somewhere in the middle of them all!
Favorite spot?
I hail from the concrete cows of Milton Keynes
