Maria Daines fronts a hard rock band playing original material written by Maria & guitarist Paul Killington. Hailing from Cambridgeshire, UK, they formed in 1996 becoming a fixture of the live music scene & making several TV appearances, garnering fans in over 20 countries. Aired on BBC and FM stations the band opened for US artist Pink at Cardiff International Arena, the concert raised over £90,000 for six animal welfare charities. Maria & Paul work ceaselessly on the many facets of their songwriting with project pieces finding placement in TV/film production. Daines/Killington songs are published by NorthStar Music UK & available for artist consideration.
Why this name?
Well it's my name but it was chosen as the band name by an earlier line up and it stuck.
Do you play live?
Yes & we love it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Music will always evolve and the internet plays its part in helping people to share their work.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't think being signed is important, distribution is the key and you can do that yourself.
Band History:
We've been working together since 1996. Paul plays all live instruments on our tracks & I write lyrics & melodies, the band learns the songs from the recordings & we produce ourselves.
Your influences?
Paul - Hendrix, Beatles, Jackson Browne, Led Zep, Thunder, Johnny Winter, AC/DC
Maria - Diana Trask, Tom Waits, Willie Nelson, Janis Joplin, AC/DC
