Hear My Cry
K.O.D. is a new wave of hip hop comming through! In the most real and true form, as far as music you can feel. With a sound that's dirty south and mid west combine, he's already sold 1200 CD's in store and out of trunk! His single "Hear My Cry" came up on Billboard's DMA charts at # 12 out of 200 singles competing with artist such as B2K, 50 Cent, Bonecrusher, and etc.....The song also hit #1 on the the hot 9 at 9 on the Top 40 station Hot 93.1 FM, in Rapid City SD. It stayed there for Three Weeks!!!
Why this name?
It started back when I was younger and I use to battle rap. I would always try to go up against rappers that were older than me. I would be up in there faces, and cats were like "man" you look like you were going to knock him out! So they started calling me knock'em out Dre. Didn't want to be another Dre out there, so I shorten it to K.O.D.
Do you play live?
All over SD! I love what I do fo sho! My 1st moment was performing in front of 4,000 people during a Semi pro football team. 2nd was opening up for Luke and the 2 live crew. 3rd was having Kyane West ask my manager for my CD in a night club that was playing my music in Chicago! And last but not least was meeting Bone thugs and Harmony (Lazy Bone). Cat gave my manager his manager # and said that if I ever wanted to do something together he would.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives alot of my doggs a chance to be heard, and make money independently.( Isn't making money and being heard what it's all about?)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah... I would but I'm trying to make my fan base stronger to have them to come to me. That way I can do it my way. Still be me!
