Crack in the Sun are pseudo anarchocomedy prog punk metal jazz. That is to say, we play anything we wish.
Why this name?
It came up in a game of Russian Roulette Scrabble
Do you play live?
We play anywhere where the venue is putting the show on for love of music. The venues who demand you bring a crowd - who are only in it for the profit margin - can kiss our swingers. It's a matter of principle.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has good and bad points. The good bands make their money from playing live anyway, and the internet (and mp3's) give them coverage. The bad points are that record companies are less likely to take a chance on a band they cannot necessarily control. That's why the charts are full of bland inanity, pushing apathy to it's extremes.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I doubt a major would be interested in taking a chance on us. If they granted us artistic freedom and demonstrated a strong ethical foundation then we would consider it.
Band History:
We were in strong popular local punk bands which split. So we got together. We play for fun.
Your influences?
Propagandhi, NOFX, B-52's, Beach Boys, Mike Oldfield.
