'Hogbladder' is Jon Jones, Leroy Anderson, and Joe Pontisso. The band, or, recording group (!), has an unusual background. Jon Jones and Joe Pontisso go WAY back!! They played together while in the Marine Corps from 1984, of all places! After the Corps, Joe went to Hollywood, Jon went to Seattle, and there he met Leroy Anderson. Jon and Leroy wrote and wrote and wrote!!! Joe got sick of LA and went in the Army. Joe saw combat in Somalia, poverty in Haiti, became an EOD tech., and got out in 1998 as a single parent! Thanks to another mutual old friend, Jon and Joe hooked back up in 2000 and made the CD tentatively called 'Hogbladder-Bacon Necklace'. Hogbladder has two previous CD's available at www.onyourmarkmusic.com of material written by Jon and Leroy while in Seattle.
Why this name?
Jon and Leroy were writing/recording/jamming pretty regularly in a cabin up on Mt. Ranier, drinking copius quantities of boxed wine, etc.! When the wine got low, they'd rip the bag out of the box, snip a corner off, and proceed to , well, suck the dregs out of the wine bag! In a stupor, they called it the 'hogbladder', and, in their irreverence, they call the music "Hogbladder'. And so..................
Do you play live?
Hmmm. Currently, Leroy lives in Alaska, Jon in Oceanside, CA, and Joe is a migrant bomb picker. They get together when they can.........
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Internet hosting of independent music is AWESOME! It gives musicians such a huge potential audience, if you will, for their creations!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Maybe.
