I am Laura. I taught myself how to play the guitar 5/6 years ago. I took piano lessons ever since I was 4 and let go of it at the age of 13. I find nothing interesting in playing the piano. I don't spend most of the time creating something new, instead I'm playing pieces of music. I find it dull. I started picking up the guitar and strumming it. My dad had 2. After picking up the guitar, I find it very easy to play although the fingers hurt. I started playing songs at first and find that I learn new things everytime I do that. Now that I come to think of it, piano's exactly the same.. you play somebody's pieces and after you know better, you make your own. Well, guess piano isn't for me. So, here I am.. typing this crazy biography/introduction.
I started writing last year (2003). I couldn't believe myself when I finish up with a full stop. I created a song. Since then, I've been expressing myself through songs and it's amazing. Music will always be my hobby, my love. I hope to grow in the years to come, in singing, playing and writing.

Why this name?
It's my own name and I feel comfortable with it so there's no point creating another.
Do you play live?
I went for a few open mic nites in a guitar center near me. Then recently, at school in a show called Holiday Extravaganza. The open mic nites were my first time and second time so I was nervous. As for holiday extravaganza, I wasn't shaking neither was I nervous so it went well. I love performing because it helps me build up my confident and overcoming my stage fright. I feel better everytime I perform.. whether it's good or bad.. at least, I have the guts to go up on stage and do it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's easier to promote your music instead of being the-person-who-plays-in-the-room and not exposed. the internet has definitely changed the music industry. It's the most powerful tool to get somebody to other places.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. If the deal's good, I will accept it. I hope to do great in music and want to improve in it. I think by doing it everyday, living it.. is the best way to get into music.
Your influences?
I listened to different varieties of music ranging from dance to contemporary christian.
Favorite spot?
New York is my favourite city simply because you can get pretty much everything you want. My favourite spot? Not sure.
Equipment used:
I have a Taylor 810 (this baby is beautiful and magnificent, I just love the sound of it). I also have an Epiphone EJ200 (I've written a good number of songs with this guitar so I'm definitely keeping it). I also have an electric guitar and an Alvarez. Both are great guitars too.
Anything else...?
Dare to Dream is what my mum always told me, so Dare to Dream.
