Why this name?
Well I used to break dance a while ago and I kind of just acquired it. I don't know why... People think its stupid, but its something that I have never heard before, and it stuck. (I like to eat rice and beans too... he he)
Do you play live?
I actually havent had the time with my schoolwork. The only LIVE stuff that I have done are some freestylin' competitions on campus, and some open mics at cafe shops, and etc.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Music is really just expanded by the internet... It has its pros and its cons. One good thing is that it allows an artists work to be distributed easier and be heard by a greater amount of people. One of the bads is that, no matter what, your music can be distributed whether you want it to or not... If people pay for it or not... (thats why you should keep it free!!.. he he...)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I have seriously thought about this question... If it was for the money strictly, Yes, but only if I had a control in the styles I use and messages I portray... on the other hand... Why would I need to, If I really wanted to .. I could do it independently, like I have been. A lot of the work that I have done, its all been by myself, and with some help from close friends, (Steven G. aka "SKG", Scott M. aka "PseudoSAMpson"and my brother Azeez aka "BreeZ")...
I don't really think that I am good enough to be accepted by the music industry. True hip hop comes from the heart, and I don't really care if people like me or not... Not everyone will like what I create and its understandable.. I am different.

Band History:
As of now, I'm trying to promote my own Production company... called "FLYP DA BYRD PRODUCTIONS". With "FlyP da Byrd" I've only created the following projects: BIFF MIXES I-IV and my first album called EETYERBEENZ which was a rushed album, and therefore I took it off the "shelves".
Future projects consist of the BIFF MIX V (Remixes of HOT songs with FLyp Da Byrd Beats, and Some skits) and my 2nd album.... JUSKUMONWIT which is due sometime before SUMMER 2004
I still need a little help with promotion though... which is really hard to do by myself... SO IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU HEAR, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD...

Your influences?
Well... I have many musical influences, from many different types of music, Ill only name a few though... My jazzy side comes from FeLa (a Nigerian Jazz artist that my dad used to play), Jill Scott, the Rat-Pack, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and the list goes on... man..
Hip Hop-wise, I love Digable Planets, MoBB DeeP, Aesop Rock, A Tribe Called Quest, Erykah Badu, Boot Camp... good God there is a lot more.. My hands are just tired of typing...

There is also a 2-track input/output for recording and playback, and not to mention its small enough to carry around with you.
I Create Beats, Sample, Master Volume, and Record with this mini studio right in front of my face... its a useful, cheap, and sufficient mucic creating tool.
