UBERKINDER is the dynamic duo of brothers Andrew Spooner Jr, age 20: Vocals, Lead Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Programming, Production and Sound Engineering; and Knowagh Spooner, age 23: Vocals, Guitar, Bass, and Keyboards. We were, up until recently, based out of Hendersonville, TN, a suburb of greater Nashville, but have since moved up to Portland, TN. We’ve been writing together and making strange tapes of songs, comedy sketches, and mixes of crazy garbled samples for just about as long as we can remember. Our first major influences were They Might Be Giants and Phish, and we have also found kindred musical souls in the insane genius of Beck and the surreal otherworldly adventures of Pink Floyd (and more recently, Tenacious D), but I’d have to say our biggest current (and all-time) influence is The Kinks. We’re getting close to possessing every last rare, unreleased, demo-ed, live-only, and/or “great lost” Kinks recording in existence. They say that there are two types of people: Elvis people and Beatles people. I say f*** Elvis AND the Beatles! I mean, I like the Beatles, but Ray and Dave Davies make them sound like complete amateur songwriters, and songwriting is what it’s all about:) You may recognize our father, Andy Spooner, who has written several #1 country singles for Joe Diffie (Home, In My Own Backyard, So Help Me Girl). We have yet to perform live (except for our friends and family. We would probably do so with MIDI programming backing us up, although we’d love to try working with a live drummer and keyboardist. Oh what? What’s that? Gotta go, somebody just shot our Explosive Set of Billy (the plural of ‘Billy’) in the groin and it looks like their skin an be turning inside-out....WHY, I’LL HAVE YOUR BEEF NED! Why? ‘Cause I’m swimmin’ in a sea of fake beards! Badump-chsh!..................... don‘t look at me, I don’t know either; I think maybe I have tourettes.....[Andrew Spooner Jr.]
Why this name?
Scenario title from Wolfenstein 3D:)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well at least now these bands will have to start offering something more than nine sh*tty little filler tracks with one halfway decent hit. What is wrong with these people, CDs are 75 minutes long, and were still actin' like we're limited by vinyl! I think if you really have something worth buying then you'll do just fine.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell yes! We should be so lucky.
