Hello there,

You seem to have stumbled upon my new musical project, Nor Soqeur. I already posted a few MP3 files with this project, but to tell the truth, I don't think they went to my potential so I scrapped them for the current time. They needed more cooking before they were ready to be consumed.

Anyway, with that in mind, I'm going for a power pop sound very much in the vein of such artists as Weezer and Ozma. I've been so inspired by their music that I have developed into my own musical style that borrowed some of their style; you can also be sure that I am not the carbon copy, either.

So, with all that said, thank you for coming and enjoy the MP3 files!

Sincerely,
Ron C. Roques
Lead Singer/Everything - Nor Soqeur
Why this name?
I don't really know. I came up with the idea at random one day by switching around my first and last name. I think it sounds pretty cool, actually, although it might be bad if I get popular. I mean, could you imagine being a radio DJ and having to pronounce THAT?
Do you play live?
I haven't played a real show yet. I just don't think that musically I am ready to play in front of a crowd. The songs aren't ready and complete and furthermore, I'd need a band to play around me and that's not easy around here.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that the internet can provide an artist with a medium with which to spread their music and gain word-of-mouth hype, much like the days of pirate radio stations. While I do agree that free music downloading does lower album sales, I feel that in the end, it is good that an artist can get out to the masses without overcharging or ripping them off. The math of an album sale isn't exactly good for the argument that the artist is hurt by it... in fact, the artist makes more from touring and merchandise than the album itself. All in all, the internet is good for music and good for promotion.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course. Who wouldn't want the chance to sign with a major label? I know some people consider it to be selling out, but I don't consider it to be that. I consider it to be a step upward and a step in the right direction.
Band History:
Okay, so there's not much of an official history.

Basically, the musical project started sometime around January of 2004. I had been writing songs and I decided to record and with that, I started a new musical project called Hot Rod Hero.

For the next few months, I wrote and recorded a bunch of songs, but I wasn't satisfied with them. So, I hung up my guitar and took a vacation from music.

It didn't come back to me until September, when I picked up where I left off and decided that the old material just wasn't salvageable. So, with that decided, I dropped the name and picked up the new name, Nor Soqeur. I wrote a handful of new songs and I put them up on SoundClick, and though they did fine, they just didn't cut it in my head. So I scrapped them so I could put something of value up.

So, that's where I stand. A new beginning. A new chance to rock.
Your influences?
Weezer, Ozma, Beach Boys, Beatles, Rooney, Phantom Planet, Daniel Brummel, Brand New
Favorite spot?
I would definitely say that my favorite place is Lake Tahoe, an alpine lake in Northern California. Beautiful land. Wouldn't mind living there.
Equipment used:
I won't divulge detail, but I can say it is very cheap. It works, though.
