Solemn 99, its not just a name, its a revolution. Haha naw, really my music is made with 2 numark TT's, my PC, a Roland 606 (Hopefully) and crate upon crate of untouched samples. Hopefully soon i start working with a band and get some sounds where I can dictate how it sounds. My influences come from man different places, as a listener I am into pretty much anything you've heard, and even more that you haven't. The Underground Hip Hop scene has opened the door for acts such as myself and people i look up to, RJD2 and DJ Shadow to create experimental hiphop. Listening to their music, as well as mine, you can hear their influences, from funk to soul to rock and even reggae, and hip hop is such an amazing artform because it CAN bring all of this music together. Like I said, much love to D2 and Shadow, for inspiring me and opening the door, keep doing what you're doing and so will I.
Why this name?
I don't know i just thought of it one day.
Do you play live?
Not yet, hopefully at some point.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Yes, definitely. Without the internet the underground would not exist. We wouldn't have bands emerging like this because theres no way without the internet that an artists name would travel so far. Now with the internet its possible for independent artist to do big things, whereas before, without a label, you were stuck.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
i plead the 5
