There's a new album almost done!
LIE: Love Isn't Enough has been 6 months in the making. Well, that's not exactly true. I've spent 37 years causing trouble, and that's coming through in these ten songs. Loving crazy women, loving one that's crazier than the rest, revenge, bitterness, regret and ambivalence, they're all here. And they're all deeply instilled in those chosen few muses from my past.
So maybe this project has taken 37 years to complete. A year to write, 6 months to record, and 47 minutes to air-guitar.
Coming up soon...

As a pop music control freak, I write, record, and produce the songs. I also play every instrument on the recordings, because I think it's rude to tell another artist exactly what to do. With nobody to add input, what you hear is the unadulterated Matt Swift. Good or bad, it's what I want. With no aspirations for a career in the industry, I have the freedom to do what I want, when I want. And this is it.
Why this name?
My parents chose it, roughly around the time of my birth.
Do you play live?
At the moment I don't have any interest in putting together a live show. I am simply a studio project.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is destroying the established record distribution companies. When you can send your music into any home in the world via the internet, you have made the traditional record label redundant. Their focus will have to shift to being PR-based in order to survive.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if I could keep most artistic control and get lots of money. But that's really not going to happen, is it?
Band History:
Not Relevant, but thank you for asking.
Your influences?
David Bowie, Roxy Music, Japan, and The Rolling Stones are my main influences. There's also some Motown, Iggy Pop, and Madchester embedded deep in the mix somewhere.
Favorite spot?
That line that runs from the hip down... oh wait - were you talking about ... oh, never mind.
Equipment used:
A Fender Telecaster (or two), a bottle of good gin, and drama in my personal life.
