Why this name?
A Sunday afternoon interest in reading about the Black Dahlia murder mixed with a longtime fascination with shortwave radio feeds.
Do you play live?
So far, we have played in two venues here in Memphis: Neil's and The Buccaneer
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows the artist to express themselves without the chain of command/dog and pony show of businessmen who know very little about art or expression. I think 'commercial viability' is a load of sh*** and I for one don't wish to be involved in the industry's reindeer games.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't think I would, no. I would consider one of the larger independents, but it would have to be one humdinger of a contract.
Your influences?
I think everything we hear is an influence in some way--and that's not really a cop out. But as musical acts go, I can safely say that fans of Front 242, Kraftwerk and Orbital might notice their overt influence in my sound, at least rhythmically. Then you're just as likely to catch a whiff of pop stuff or something artsy like Wire or Magazine. We have varied music tastes and it shows in the music.
