Why this name?
I didn't name the band when it 1st formed.... The original members of the band made it up during one of the 1st practices at Denny's house....... I just wanted something that inferred the blues influence that the band was formed to reflect. Jimmy suggested Triple Threat. Which sounded good 'cause Jimmy booked a band one time as "Jimmys Crack Pipe and I Don't Care..... Friday"!!!!! (ha) Then he booked us one time as "Jack the Dog"!!!!! That looked really cool on the marque'... "Jack the Dog Friday Night" We laughed our asses off..... Denny said to put my name up front as I was going to be the front man so to speak... So, anyway, Tommys Triple Threat Blues Revue was the choice that was suggested and adopted. I told everybody then that this would be my last band so I've just kept it goin though the members change every now and then. Life throws alot of stuff at us all so its very hard to keep people together sometimes.
Do you play live?
Yes we play out live. I love to play out live ...... I love motivating an audience. They're premise for coming in the 1st place is to have fun so guiding them during the show is a requirement. They want to see and hear something that is going to inspire them. If I could I'd play out every night.... When we're not booked I go out to jams here in town if I can and play with my friends. The best moment was the last RibFest gig opening for Highway 101. My brother Steve played drums with me for the 1st time publicly..... He got serious about music a few years ago, quit playing, and started a sound company. He makes more than anybody in the band now.... (ha) It all started when we were in 7th grade so why should it stop now....? It just keeps gettin better the longer you stay in........
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It changes it alot.... Easy access to/for fans to hear the bands music... Instant access to bands websites for information that was usually only available to entertainers that were signed to record deals.... You could only find info on bands in magazines before.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes...... IF they ever call....... I'll be doing this for the rest of my life whether they get in on it or not. I know it doesn't sound like alot but there are 7,000 CDs across the planet that I've given away. More go out everyday... If you want to be heard, the best way is to give the music away until you get signed..... It is a job but it doesn't seem like one if you still have fun doing it.... I don't care about fame... You're only as "famous" as people "think" you are anyway and you can't score if you don't play ball.... I just want to play music for the rest of my life..... so I'll do it with or without 'em.
Your influences?
Rick Derringer, Tommy Bolin, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, B.B.King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and mostly Steve Marriott. I was and am still influenced greatly by Steve Marriott. What a great entertainer..... The guy was just great on stage..... an amazing sight to behold.... I saw him during the Humble Pie Farewell Tour in the '70's. I saw Rick Derringer for the 1st time during that period also. He was playing an original 1958 Explorer V head prototype and just ooozed rock attitude. Very inspirational and he rocks harder today I think. He gets better everytime I see him anyway......
