Pre-Pilesar MIDI Madness circa 1996-97!
Why this name?
I chose this band name because I thought it to be appropriate for these pieces. They were originally meant to be "sketches" for a live ensemble, but since I've never had the opportunity to apply these compositions to that setting, I decided to let them stand alone on their own merits.
Band History:
Essentially, these tracks represent a period in my life before i had access to a 4-track tape recorder and created the Pilesar/Mandible projects. The only means i had to produce and record music at this time was to go to the University computer music lab and commandeer a station for 8-9 hours a day. Needless to say, i missed a lot of class and went long periods of time without food, water, or sunlight. Thank god for the WENDY's across the street!

Unforunately, only about 1/3 of the music I created during these sessions actually got documented to tape, while the remaining 2/3 were "accidentally erased" by the University. These remaining pieces are what I'd consider to be my Middle Period work; the early and later periods (which i feel to be much stronger material) will be lost forever.

The sound quality is not as good as it could be due to the fact that I didn't know what I was doing when i first recorded this music (the lab assistants were never around and the equipment was prone to various malfunctions). Secondly, my primary sources for these MP3's were second and third generation tapes that i found floating around the bottom of my misc. tape box. I did my very best to clean them up and make them somewhat presentable. also, mistakes abound because the takes captured here were supposed to be test copies for me to listen to later for reference.

Regardless, I'm proud of these pieces and some of them will probably end up being absorbed partially, if not completely, by The new Mosquito Death Squadron Live Band. Expect to see these tracks reworked for various live ensembles in the very near future...
Your influences?
Although it may be hard to tell, most of the influences for these pieces came from various Movie/Video Game Theme music, Ellery Eskelin, Dream Theater, and Medeski, Martin, and Wood.
Equipment used:
A korg synthesizer and a school computer. I think the program was Studio Pro 3.0 or something.
