I am a guitar performer and teacher in the North Texas area. Normally you'll find me in the classroom at the local high school teaching and conducting large guitar ensembles. Sometimes I can be found at the local music store giving private lessons. I started out as a rock guitarist but switched to classical in 1975 for the sheer beauty and complexity of the music. Hope someone finds the music that I offer enjoyable.
Do you play live?
Usually I play for my students at Rider High School in Wichita Falls but I also do promotions at the local record store and play at weddings and other special occassions. Occassionally I will play a faculty recital at Midwestern State University.
Your influences?
Chet to Segovia and all points in between. If it's good music, I'll listen to it. I've seen too many great guitarists in my life to name one as my favorite. I listened to Hendrix and Harrison as a teenager, McLaughlin and Kottke in college, then Hedges in the 90's. I always come back to the classical guys like Williams and Fisk for inspiration. The LA Guitar Quartet definitely influences how I approach my ensemble classes.
