Mr Kite are a progressive Multi-style three piece group formed in early April 2004. There is a subtle cheekyness within most of the music and humor is given a major role in most of our songs. Just as the members of the band have a wide and varied taste in music, the songs on our debut EP, "G'donya", cover a wide variety of tastes e4nsuring that there is something for everyone! Lay back, have a listen and get into the groove of Mr. Kite.
Why this name?
Frontman Graeme 'Mr. Kite' MacDonald, being a large Beatles fan was given and thus adopted the nick-name of "Mr. Kite". As the persona and focal point of the group, the name Mr. Kite seemed ideal and seemed to fit our overall zanyness and philosiphies.
Do you play live?
We have been playing live for 3 months so far in the Glasgow area, including haedlining a gig at the Barfly on the same night as the Quireboys. During 2005 we hope to play gigs throughout the rest of the UK. We are currently awaiting confirmation of dates to be played in Barrow-In-Furness, Nottingham, Grimsby and Folkstone.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We beleive the internet and MP3's have changed the music industry as it makes music more accessable for the fans and provides a whole new easier method of promoting new music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We would consider it but there would have to be terms in the contract to allow us to continue posting at least some of our music on the internet so our fans have free acces to the Mr. Kite Phenomenon.
Your influences?
Our influences are wide and varried, here's some of the favourites: Peter Gabriel (inc. early Genesis), Pink Floyd, Megadeath, Testament, The Levellers, Gary Moore, Steve Vai, Frank Zappa and many many more! All music that you listen to allways influences your music to a greater or lesser degree!
Anything else...?
Feel free to download any Mr. Kite material and pass it on to your freinds and help keep music free and easy. Be Bad!
