Predestination
NEWS   12-12-04: Predestination will be performing for the first time ever at open mic night at The Coffee Connection in Mayfair Philadelphia. An all acoustic set, bound to be a real treat! Check the tour section for more info!

12-15-04: Check ther music section for the updated version of our new most popular song "Sweetheart". It features an additional stellar vocal performance by our very own Ashley! Go now!

12-26-04: Our first show at the Coffee Connection was a success thanks to the 20+ people who showed up in our support! Thank you all so much! We have recorded "Between Red and Green" with Ashley's wonderful vocals and that will be posted within the next couple of days for sure. In the charts most of our songs have fallen into the triple digits, which is no surprise because they're no longer fresh. However, "Makeshift Bomb Shelter" is still #25 in the AvantRock charts so thank you for keeping our first and foremost creation up there! Thank you all for listening to any song, we've received so much positive feedback to keep us going and we're loving it. We also had a very good Christmas. Gabby got some nice new Sabian cymbols and Jake got a swell new keyboard and Predestination's first bass guitar! The songs may very well be totally worked thru again with the new equipment. There is so much to be done! We are in the process of putting a 6track demo together as well that we hope to have ready by the end of January. The will probably sell for just a dollar each when they are completed. Thank you all again for your support! We hope you all had wonderful holidays!

As of now we've got a few songs recorded as a group. After our first live show on December 23rd, we decided that Ashley should take over lead vocals. Recording has been at a stand-still lately; but that will change very soon.
Why this name?
Predestination means most nearly to have your life mapped out at the moment of your conception. Music is our map (or compass for those of you who travel).
Do you play live?
We are working on bringing these intricate songs to life in a live spectrum. Seeking live players (guitar, bass, any additional intruments to enhance the performance). Jake's friend Ray has come onboard as our live bassist.

We've only had one live show in the few months that Predestination has been together. We performed at an open mic night at The Coffee Connection in Mayfair, with a simple four song set list that consisted of "Sweetheart", the live version of "Makeshift Bombshelter", a new song which features Ashley by herself "Between Red And Green", and our cover of the Guster song "Say That To My Face".
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has been helpful in getting the underground above-ground. And if you're not too possesive of your music that's quite a good thing =)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not sure. Would a major label sign us? Maybe and indy label or a subsidary? We're still young, no worries.
Band History:
We all met in high-school (where we still are). And all have an astounding appreciation of music, writing, theatre, etc. Jacob and Gabrielle played in a former band together and began work "Makeshift Bombshelter" (a song about World War II written by Gabrielle). When it was an amazing success (it and it's remix) the band took it's shape. Ashley was inducted because of her closeness to Jacob and Gabrielle and because of her admirable vocal ability. And Predestination was born!
Your influences?
We all come from very different musical backrounds. Gabrielle and Ashley are very familiar with theatre and Jacob is into lots of classical sounding performers. Here's everyone's vague breakdown on influences:

Jacob: Bjork, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sigur Ros, Rufus Wainwright
Gabrielle: Guster, Silverchair, Gruvis Malt, Damien Rice
Ashley: Jason Mraz, The Cure
Favorite spot?
HOME!! ..and we keep Slack's Hoagie Shack alive, according to Jake.
Equipment used:
Equipment is minimal at the moment...heh. The vastly unheard of Baby Gorilla amp is the showcase i suppose. Like previously mentioned, we have yet to perform live.
Anything else...?
ENJOY!! We are pleased to share with you our love.
