Why this name?
"Ickest?" Anteola used it as complimentary expression in high school. Remember when you were a kid and you made up your own lingo within your group of friends? That was "Ickest!" After registering the word into everyone's vocabulary, a friend of Anteola's had used "Ickest" as a nickname for him. 'Til this day, that nickname remains as his stage name.
Do you play live?
Yes. Any open mic joints, parties, and any events that want me to perform, i'm there! My special moment was a perfomance I did in college. It was my first time performing my first written songs and I was added onto the "Hall Of Fame" at Leeward Community College.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet is the biggest media savy place we all can depend on when it comes to searching and networking for new music, upcoming artists, promote, and build yourself as a musician. Online toll booths such as Youtube and Myspace is such a helpful way to showcase our talent. People can search from underground artists to mainstream and keep up to date with these artists from websites, articles, and so on and so forth. I personally consider myself as an online-based artist. Without Internet, I wouldn't have established a generous amount of followers.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
That would be the greatest day of my life! I'd want to be signed because they love what I have to offer as an artist, which is beyond dedication.
Your influences?
Brandy Norwood, Jojo, Bobby Tinsley, Justin Timberlake
Favorite spot?
LA, Hawaii, and Orange County
