Southern songwriter living in Cincinnati, rock influenced country music
Why this name?
My parents chose it for me, back in the 50s.
Do you play live?
Love playing live. Played in bands in Birmingham in the 80s, opened for Oingo Boingo once. Now play in the round at Rong Tan's Bistro, The Viper Room and other venues in Ohio.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Obviously music is more accessible to more listeners now. The internet will one day replace radio as we know it. That's a good thing. The industry will have to better handle distribution and royalties, or suffer becoming extinct in favor of artists controlling their own music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If some label wanted my talents and was willing to invest, without making me tour, then, yes. Otherwise, I'll just write songs.
Your influences?
Creedence, Hank Williams, The Beatles, Elvis Costello, Marshall Crenshaw, Love jangly guitar pop, and wish I could write like Jeffery Steele and Patrick Jason Matthews
Favorite spot?
Any beach or tropical island.
Equipment used:
A CF Martin D16RGTE to do most of my writing and performing on. I now record everything in GarageBand on my Mac G4 laptop.
Anything else...?
Thank you to the members of SWS for getting me jump started, especially Gregory Scott. And a special shout out to my tolerant and understanding wife and sometimes co-writer, Laura.
