Why this name?
Well, because every name we chose was already taken. One day we were having a 4-way conversation and the words smash and bandits came out at once. Then, Mr. Dave said, "One word...SMASHBANDITS." And that's that.
Do you play live?
Yes. Mainly around the Motor City. We love playing to empty bars and drunks.
Final show was Sept. 8, 2006.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
There are positives and negatives to it. Positives that morons like us can get exposure. Negatives when we lose money as a result.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No. We like going to work for bum paychecks and being poor. What kind of a smart-ass question is that anyway?
Band History:
If you have a pulse and live in the Detroit area or within earshot of any venue, you will know Smashbandits. Loud music, friendly energetic crowds and cold beer are the main ingredients of every Smashbandits show.
The music is speed-punk. Refusing to conform to the mainstream sound of modern "punk", the bold guitar crunch, pounding drums, agile bass and lightning fast melodies have distinguished Smashbandits as a Detroit classic.
