NIGH is the latest and greatest production to slither from the cracks of the Sam Sugar studio.
Originally, the project was intended to be entirely produced in one weekend. The music was written, and the scratch tracks were recorded, in approximately eight hours on Saturday, October 30th, 2004. The bulk of the tracks were recorded the next day on Halloween Sunday, including the vocals which were written on the fly. After auditioning the first mix, faith in the CD was so great that not a moment was spared in its perfection. Every spare November minute was spent recording leads and tweaking knobs.
NIGH found its inspiration in remembering the dark and disappointing, and incorporating unorthodox sounds for its genre. In honor of Earth's greatest musical era, NIGH incorporates a Hammond organ with a spinning Leslie speaker. This adds tremendous depth to the metal "wall of sound." Each song also features surprisingly palatable blues-influenced leads performed by Adam Patterson of the Base Apes.
Overall, NIGH is sure to "confound and confuse" with its manic/depressive tempos, '70s warmth, groovy rhythms, and soothingly sullen death metal vocals.
