Individually, I play instrumental guitar rock, with a strong blues influence. I also play in a local band that does classic and contemporary rock covers.

2007 So far ...

The rock band I play in, The Groove, has been through a major line up change and we continue to rock the house! Recently appearing at Harrah's Casino and Topeka Harley Davidson.

On September 8th 2007, The Big Woody Band headlined the Coleman Hawkins Blues Festival in St. Joseph Missouri. It was one of those rare events where everything came together and the energy was out of this world. There were thousands of people in attendance and we brought a complete horn section with us. (that was cool!) It was a night to remember. Here's a cell phone shot of the concert....

2006 Update

Well, what a year! Our band continues to be very fortunate. This year the band was able to perform with Kerry Livgren of Kansas ...

That's Kerry on the left and me on the right :-).

It was awesome to do some dueling guitars with Kerry! The band continues to amaze me with gigs we get. This year's highlight has to be opening for Eddie Money.

From left to right, Steve, Lew and Todd, in the back ... Ken and Kurt

As I looked out into the crowd there were thousands of people as far as I could see ... and they were there to Rock! What an incredible experience!

This year I can also add cancer survivor to my resume - lol as if my little bout is worth mentioning. I guess the point is, we're only here for a little while so make the best of it!

Rock on!
Todd

Why this name?
You'd have to ask my parents.
Do you play live?
I play with a group of "40 something" guys locally. I enjoy the guys in the band and a we have a great time playing together.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has opened the door for information sharing and collaboration. It will completely change the music industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes
Band History:
I started playing guitar when I was 11. That was 1972! Wow I'm old! I played in a few bands in the late 70's and early 80's. I took the 90's off. In fact I didn't even own a guitar for a number of years. A while ago, I was in a commercial (no I'm not an actor), and during the filming of it, I met the keyboard player for the band that I now play in. Neither one of us had played in years, and we thought it would fun to get togther and jam. Well little did we know that things would come together, and we'd be playing once again.

Playing in a band again has inspired me to start writing and recording again. I'm really enjoying it, and I look forward to hearing what comes out of those efforts.
