There is not much to say about kommbat. I am a one-person-unit (not true - I made one piece with a good pal of mine). Everything is done by myself. I' d rather not talk about myself but about my audio experiments. Music is more interesting than airs and graces about the "artist" himself! Don't you think so?
Why this name?
A name is just a name: I could have called myself Bambi. It's all hollow words.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Oh, the internet changes the world of music listing and producing fundamentally. There are new ways of distribution: Let's say it is a form of modern democracy and emancipation. People can start making their own music (or what they might understand of music) share it with other people around the world and exclude the major companies from making money with the artist's conduction / music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No of course not! Why should I work for people or companies that do not understand a single note about music but money-making!
Band History:
In 2004 my musical journey began.
Your influences?
There is a wide spectrum of music that interests me. I don't want to commit myself to a certain music genre. I like the ambient rock / psychedelic rock of the 60s and 70s very much. Many basic things for the contemporary music were made during this time! Starting with Jimi Hendrix, Velvet Underground, Beatles, Doors, David Bowie and so on.

The 80s also kept nice artists: Art of Noise, Depeche Mode, U2 (I don't like the stuff of the two last bands that was produced in the 90s or later - to "pope-ish").

Neue Deutsche Welle! Do I need to say more? A very lucid genre in music. Joachim Witt and Ideal for example. Something like that never happened again, allthough I know a lot of bullshit came out during this time (Markus, Nena and so on)!

As far as electronic and electronic-ambient music is concerned there are only few artists or labels that really influenced me! Kraftwerk to mention one, Dom and Roland, Massive Attack, Goldie, Boards of Canada, Autechre, Aphex Twin and Squarepusher.

I also listen to HipHop: Souls of Mischief, Saul Williams, Beans, Antipop Consortium, RJD2 and Atmosphere - just to mention a small number.

Reggae, Dub and Dancehall of course: Lee Scratch Perry, Jimmy Cliff, Hepcat, Toots and the Maytals, Merciless, Sizzla and so on.

Punk and Hardcore: Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Lard, Gorilla Biscuits, Cro Mags, Sick of it all, Killing Time, Rollins Band and one of the best german noiserock / hardcore / whatever kind-a-music: Eniac from Hamburg.
Favorite spot?
The world I am living in!
Equipment used:
Music Software on my computer, MIDI-Keyboard, MD-Recorder plus Mic.
Anything else...?
My entire musical range should be considered as an experimental journey into sound. It is not mainstream compatible - I guess. But people who enjoy non-conform ways of making sounds and music understand the idea behind my soundscapes.
