Do you play live?
I love playing live. Live shows are why I play music. Its all about the connection with the fans.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that the explosion of mp3 media is a good thing for the consumer. It may lower record sales because the consumer has a chance to listen to the over produced crap from the untalented artists before making the mistake of purchasing the album. Make a good record, and it will sell. Just ask Norah Jones, John Mayer, or Nickel Creek. A good artist will continue to sell the record even after the media dust settles.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would, yes. However, I would want some creative control.
Your influences?
This is always such a tough question. I love Stevie Wonder, Love Jones, Pharcyde, The Roots, Laurie Lewis, Nickel Creek, Gwen Stefani, Ray Charles, Norah Jones, John Mayer... a very eclectic variety. I think that really comes through in my music. I just love good songs. Great music that has the power to evoke emotion - with or without lyrics.
Favorite spot?
I love the NW, but I have a soft spot for New York City.
Equipment used:
I play guitar, mandolin, sing, and write. My album has all kinds of instrumentation.
