Well I don't know if you can really call one guy a band. Even Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Dave Matthews have a band to back them up. But you have to start somewhere so I'm my own backing band. I play the guitars, the drums, the bass, the piano...the vocals. Hey at least I won't have a Behind The Music special. It's hard to break up with yourself. I'm a songwriter from Pennsylvania, and am just looking to get a little more exposure. I've been playing music for 17 years now and finally am putting all my ideas down. This is my lifes work in some ways.
Why this name?
My parents chose my band name I guess.
Do you play live?
I play live at The Hodle in New Freedom, PA once a month with a friend of mine. We have a 4 hour set down there. Other then that I hit open mics when I can, and record all the time. I love playing anywhere I get the chance to. My most special moment was the birth of my daughter. The song Lullaby was written for her, months before she was born. She is and will continue to be my greatest inspiration.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's made it more available. Long gone are the days of driving to a music store. Or hearing about new bands through the grapevine. You can conduct your own searches from a much wider variety without all the costs. It's also made it easier for people like me to reach a larger audience.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Show me the money! But unless your P-Diddy, it doesn't happen like that anymore. Most bands tour and tour and record and record and make next to nothing. You really have to love what you are doing and not look at it from a strictly financial viewpoint. If I get signed and make millions thats great. If I don't thats great to. It won't stop me from making my music.
Band History:
There will be a new updated website up soon with the release of one of two albums.
Your influences?
At first I was a punk rock guy. I played in a punk/ska band for a few years. Then as I got older I mellowed out a lot more. Lately I listen to a lot of Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz, Maroon 5 and John Mayer. But I take bits and pieces from everything and make it my own. On my upcoming record there is several styles. Ranging from slow and soft, to fast and edgy, even an instrumental to relax to.
Favorite spot?
Not to sound corny, but my favorite spot is right in front of a microphone. He who controls the mic, controls the crowd. People can yell and scream how bad you are (they don't... but they could. And ya know what? I'm still louder, I have the microphone. I guess its a power thing!
Equipment used:
How much server space do you guys have? The full list is on the website. I have 8 guitars, but my favorite is my Taylor 414ce LE5. I use a Tascam 2488 to record with lots of mics, and rack units, and pedals. You name it, and its there.
Anything else...?
I'm a vegetarian!
