Why this name?
Somewhere in the latter half of the 20th century these nice people known as 'family' seemed to keep looking at me and saying that name... so, I guess I just got used to it.
Do you play live?
Hmmm... let me think about that... uh... yep
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Miles better than snail mail! Also, I don't have to buy those huge publisher books anymore.. ie.. 'Songwriter's Market' (I still do though.. habit I guess)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Nope... might take all the fun out of making music.
Band History:
I first started playing guitar when I was just six - I managed to figure out John Lennon's 'Norewegian Wood'. I had no music theory back then so I just went by ear. My first kick at songwriting came at age 9 when I thought I could change the lyrics to Anne Murray’s mega hit song ‘Snow Bird’. In high school I played lead guitar in my first band, ‘Alter Ego'... and the rest of my teen years were spent taking my singing and guitar playing to the next level. Since then I have played with a few bands including; Split Second, UROK2, Foul Play, The Workin' Stiffs, Third Rock and JC Freeway - winners of the 1982 BC Central Interior Battle of the Bands competition (held in Prince George BC). Currently I am in a rockin' 4 piece band called 'Littlehead' ( www.littlehead.ca )
In 2002 I recorded and co-produced my first CD, an 11-original named EDGE OF A DREAM. My favorite tune from the CD is ROCKIN' ON THE REDLINE. It's a sort of 'rock-a-billy' tune that goes out to anyone who works hard for a living. 'Redline' has received airplay in Canada as well as United States.
EDGE OF A DREAM reached the #2 spot on the CHLY 101.7 FM TOP 50 in August 2002.

Your influences?
To name a few.... John Fogerty (HUGE-BIG!!), and Neil Young, Roger Hodgson.
Favorite spot?
Behind a mic.... 'guitar on'
Equipment used:
For recording: TASCAM 2488, considering an Onyx 1640i
Vocal live: Sure 58, looking at the AKG's as of late.
Vocal recording: Sure K27 Condenser
Guitar (electric): I love my 2001 Rickenbacker 620, Fireglo. I also have another lesser known guitar that I use often... it's a Switch INNOVO-III Custom Fireburst... one of the only guitars I've played that has a whammy bar that never 'ever' throws my tuning out.
Guitar amp: VOX AC-30 (with the Ricky 620 it's a match made in heaven!)

Anything else...?
These days I've come full circle back to being a songwriter first, musician second. Musically I'm all over the place... I go from writing rock, to country, to folk, and blues (which to me is the root of the first 3 evils)... I really feel at home with blues. Stuff like Robert Johnson right up to today's artists. I hear blues influence in rock and that's where I like it best. I mean, I won't be changing my name to Hank Wank-a-doodle or anything... I just like blues.
