Why this name?
My name is Kaptin K. Everybody used ta call me that since I was young, because I'm not the type ta fall back and let someone walk on me and I get missions accomplished
Do you play live?
nah not yet, but i'd perform anywhere. I want to perform at the Merriwether Post Pavillion in Columbia, Maryland one day, something big, cause that's my home town. I performed at Big C's album release party at the island cafe in D.C. for the release of his Ace up My Sleeve album.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It can help it and hurt it. The artist themselves gotta be smart enough to not let someone else be able to make more money than someone else(if they wrote their own words.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Today I say no because you can do everything a major label does on a small scale, and if you push if you sell as much as an artist on a major label, they won't have as much money as you.
Band History:
I began rapping at 12. I made my first songs when I was around 14. About 15 or 16 I would battle for lunches with other heads at Oakland Mills, and I recorded some joints with Raided R also on Block Huggers Records. I purchased my own recording equipment about a year later which was about 2002 and since then out of pocket I have been releasing my own mixtapes on my start up label Block Huggers Records. I've had joints given out as bag fillers in the little spot in Laurel Mall and other convience stores and gas stations throughout Maryland, I've sold thousands hand to hand and through the mail box.
Your influences?
a friend of mine who passed away when he was 16, was who I began rapping with at 12. I've always loved hip hop but he was the one out of everybody that got me spittin in the first place. I rap about stuff that happens to me, stuff that may happen to you, things I enjoy. It's really my way to express how I feel, so if you can relate to me, play me loud.
Favorite spot?
The whole state of Maryland. Columbia is the city that I am from, It is between Baltimore and D.C.. It's not much to do there but make money, and it has a lot of pretty girls.
Equipment used:
I record all my mixtapes on my gold multitrack zoom machine. It don't sound the best but as long as it's nothing wrong wit ya ears you can hear what I'm sayin.
Anything else...?
Don't Sleep on Me. 410 whaddup whaddup whaddup. Block Huggers
