Welcome to the JDR Smooth Jazz Website! Here you'll find information regarding my music, influences, and current projects! Thanks again for stopping by, and God Bless you!
Why this name?
I chose JDR because people always had a hard time pronouncing my full name. So, to make things a little easier, I just used JDR!
Do you play live?
Yes, I love playing 'live' because it gives me the ability to collaborate with other great musicians and make great music. I currently play guitar for my awesome church "Community Assembly of God" in San Francisco (http://www.cagsf.org) and also am working several smooth jazz projects on the side.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Internet has the ability to reach a much wider audience and provide up to date material and music at a faster rate than ever before!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would.
Band History:
(From IUMA.com)
Producer/Guitarist Joel Del Rosario began his musical journey to today, by playing viola for San Francisco's School of The Arts initially focusing on Classical Music. However, early on, also being heavily influenced by the sounds of jazz guitar greats like George Benson, Joe Pass, and Stanley Jordan (whose mentor Elroy Jones later became Joel's mentor), led Joel to the Guitar. Soon Joel was quickly drawn into the smooth jazz scene.
Through Recording situations as well as Concert situations, his popularity (coupled with his strong spiritual ties), has led him to fuse faith and smooth jazz together, creating music uplifting and relaxing to the soul. JDR's music style runs through the gamut of R&B, Funk, Soul, Smooth Jazz, to Spiritually uplifting instrumentals, that could very easily grace the airwaves of Smooth Jazz Stations like KKSF, KJAZ and others stations all across the US.
