Stone 588 is: Terri Kennedy (vocals); Dave Rhine (guitar); Jon McFerson (bass); Sandman(drums).
Why this name?
The name was derived from the discovery of a stone circle in Ireland where an infant human sacrifice was unearthed in an urn dating back to 588 B.C.
Do you play live?
Yes, in the Los Angeles area at Nightshift, Club Eternal, Wolfpak MRX, The Cocaine, and others. Never a dull moment!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Ours' is a grassroots effort... more listeners can hear and share our music now than before internet use was widespread. There are more opportunities for self-released bands and the underground thanks to the internet. For Terri's vocal work with other artists, the MP3 format is an easy way to receive the instrumental tracks, over which to record vocals.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes with the right sort of contract allowing for artistic freedom and copyright ownership.
Band History:
Formed in 1992 in Fullerton, California by guitarist Dave Rhine
and vocalist Terri Kennedy, Stone 588's brooding, intense, tribal
sound has its roots in the early '80's post-punk era of Killing Joke
and Siouxsie and the Banshees, traversing a dimly lit path of rhythmic
darkness. Current members are Terri Kennedy (vocals); Dave Rhine (guitar); Jon McFerson (bass); Stephen (Sandman) Sands (drums).
Comprised of ferocious rhythms and sinuous, liquid guitars awash
with rippling, cavernous sounds emanating from beneath a murky depth, Stone
588's songs explore nocturnal emotions with vocals ranging from sensually
captivating to fiercely chilling. Stone 588 draws their name from the
legend of a Druid's Altar in County Cork, Southern Ireland. Under the
stone circle, the cremated body of an infant, a human sacrifice, was found
concealed in a large urn, whose burial dates back to c588 B.C. Stone 588
has supported such notables as Shadow Project, Rozz Williams, Human Drama, Eva O., The Last
Dance, Astro Vamps, This Ascension, Babyland, and Dave Vanian. Terri
Kennedy was also a backing vocalist on Faith and the Muse's
1995 U.S. Procession tour as well as contributing vocals to two European industrial cds: Hexedene's "Bullet Proof Divas" and Schattenschlag's "Flashback."
